Lee Roy Selmon's existence includes football scholarships, family involvement and involvement in the community. Selmon is the youngest of children of Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Selmon. They raised him on their farm in Eufala. He played football with his three brothers from Oklahoma. All three of them were All-Americans. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in the entire nation. Lee Roy won two championships, and 32-1-1 in his three seasons as the Oklahoma's starting linebacker. A third scholarship saw him named a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon obtained his diploma in education. Lee Roy's fourth service consisted of ten hours a week in volunteer work during the college. After college, he moved to Tampa and played for nine years with Tampa's Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro for three occasions. Then he started his professional career. He began his career in 1988. was working as an Account Relations Officer for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There's no surprise that The Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as one of the 10 most notable young men in the country. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and stood at a height of 7-foot-2. While he was in college, he was the captain of the 1975 team. He was promoted to the athletic director's assistant at University of South Florida. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. In addition, he was inducted into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. The award ceremony was conducted by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
